Meet Christina Beringer.

Thank you for looking into the services offered by Beringer Consultations. As the owner and only consultant, I take great pride in providing unique professionalism catered to the small town needs of northwest Kansas-- the place where I call "home."

My passion for the nonprofit arena began in 2006. While attending Colby Community College, I also worked at the Thomas County Community Foundation in Colby, Kan., where my love of the prairie grew and a desire to stay connected fostered a career within public relations, fundraising and journalism. Working behind the scenes of a small community foundation gave me the opportunity to wear many hats and I was fortunate enough to learn the ins-and-outs of growing an endowment for the long-term good of scholarship recipients, nonprofit organizations, schools and communities. As my knowledge of the grant world grew, so did my interest in fundraising and event planning. And so in 2008, I enrolled in the communications department of Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., and threw myself into learning everything I could about public relations and marketing. There, I interned in the marketing department of the FHSU Foundation; spent a time working at the Science and Mathematics Education Institute to launch a premiere educational program for high school seniors on the campus of Fort Hays known as the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science; worked as the assistant to the director of the Ellis County Chapter of the American Red Cross; received a Certificate for Grant Proposal Writing and graduated Cum Laude in 2010.

But, I couldn't stay away from home very long. I soon moved back to Colby to marry my high school sweetheart where we continue to live, raising our two beautiful children. Before making the decision to stay home and launch Beringer Consultations, I spent time as a special reporter at Colby Free Press covering events and county political news before being hired at the Thomas County Historical Society/Prairie Museum of Art & History-- the capstone of my career until now. I owe a great deal of my knowledge and experience to my former colleagues and board members at the Prairie Museum who allowed me to grow and learn, and especially to those who let me run wild with all of my ideas, filling our calendar of events well past capacity and letting me get involved with an $80,000+ capital campaign that ended with a barn dance and barbeque that drew upwards of 1,000 people to raise the last $14,000 of our goal. In addition to public relations, marketing and fundraising, I managed all of the rental events at the museum and the largest barn in Kansas, which soon became the most popular location in northwest Kansas to get married. Rental event income added an additional $30,000+ to the nonprofit's annual operating budget allowing more opportunity for programming and activities. I assisted with raising $50,000+ in grants to fund additional needs from technical support and building preservations to educational programs and exhibits. I also managed the website, the gift shop and took part in singing "Happy Birthday" to program director Ann Miner and renowned international Opera sensation Samuel Ramey during a promotional event for the local Pickin' on the Plains Bluegrass festival, just to name a few.

These days, I can be found volunteering my time as the President of the Board of Directors for the Thomas County Community Foundation, working to promote healthy family lifestyles with the Thomas County Breastfeeding Coalition, or laboring away at my computer at 135 North Franklin Avenue in Colby, Kan. The work I've so far been privileged to be a part of at Beringer Consultations gives me tremendous pride. In addition to my office, this location is also home to my retail boutique called Nesting that I opened in July 2016: Nesting is the only shoppe in northwest Kansas specializing in natural parenting supplies and products. Nursing women are able to get fitted for cup-sized nursing bras, learn about cloth diapers and baby carriers, and find the cutest baby gifts, the trendiest mom gifts, and the healthiest gifts for every young family.
